Inmate, 10 Officers Suffer Smoke Inhalation After Fire At Cook County Jail: Report
The blaze forced an evacuation Sunday evening, according to WLS.
COOK COUNTY, IL — A floor of the Cook County Jail was evacuated Sunday evening due to a fire that resulted in an inmate and 10 corrections officers suffering smoke inhalation, according to WLS.
The inmate had set a mattress ablaze, causing the fifth floor to be evacuated due to smoke, WLS reported, adding the inmate and officers were all treated and released from a hospital.
