IUOE Local 150 Raises Over OVER $60,000 for Special Children's Charities
IUOE Local 150 Labor Breakfast Draws Over 150 Supporters to Raise Funds for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities in Chicago

The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 150, raised over $60,000 for the not-for-profit Special Children’s Charities (SCC) at a Labor Breakfast held at the Local 150 Union Hall. Jim Sweeney, President – Business Manager of Local 150, recently joined the Board of Directors of SCC.
Themed “From the Frontlines to the Sidelines, United We’re #1 Fans,” more than 150 labor leaders, partners, and supporters attended the breakfast, including Illinois Senate President Don Harmon, and Sen. Bill Cummingham. The breakfast celebrated the deep alignment between the labor community and SCC’s mission, as well as the continued momentum behind creating a more inclusive Chicago for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
SCC was born in the city of Chicago in 1969, and since that time has become the leading funder of the Special Recreation program at the Chicago Park District, Art and Music Therapy in Chicago Public Schools, as well as various life enrichment programs throughout the city for more than 6,000 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
