Joffrey Ballet closes season with Midsummer Night's Dream

Don't miss this unique and imaginative interpretation of Shakespeare's tale

The Joffrey Ballet is closing its 2017-18 season in spectacular fashion with the North American premiere of Swedish dancer and choreographer Alexander Ekman’s stunning Midsummer Night’s Dream, a fully immersive theatrical experience that is quite different from any performance you may have seen of Shakespeare’s tale. First performed in 2015 with Operan in Stockholm with The Royal Swedish Ballet, Midsummer Night’s Dream follows a traditional Scandinavian festival celebrating the summer solstice, with a lively celebration during the day and a whirlwind dream at night. The performance will feature captivating live music performed by indie rock sensation Anna von Hausswolff.

Celebrated around the world for his originality and humor, Ekman has created award-winning works, including Joy and Episode 31, which both entertain and challenge the audience. Midsummer is considered Ekman’s wildest and most daring production.

Midsummer performances will run for ten days only, from Wednesday, April 25, through Sunday, May 6, at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Parkway, Chicago. Tickets can be purchased online.
