Kamala Harris Returns To Chicago Friday To Deliver Keynote Address At MLK Jr. Interfaith Breakfast
The former vice president will deliver the keynote address at the breakfast honoring community leaders contributions to Dr. King's legacy.

CHICAGO — Former Vice President Kamala Harris will return to Chicago this Friday, Jan. 16 at Hilton-Chicago, for the Martin Luther King, Jr. interfaith breakfast, Mayor Brandon Johnson announced.
The 2024 Democratic Presidential candidate will deliver the keynote address at the annual gathering that brings faith communities from across the city to honor Dr. King’s legacy, unity and service.
“The Vice President could be anywhere, and the fact that she chose to come to our city and lift up the work we are doing to defend our democracy means a lot to the people of Chicago.,” Johnson said in a statement. “We are honored to host her and look forward to a historic MLK Interfaith Breakfast this year.”

The mayor praised Harris as a “trailblazer” and “staunch defender of the freedoms and rights of everyday Americans.”
Chicago’s first Black mayor, Harold Washington, organized the first MLK Interfaith Breakfast more than 40 years ago. The breakfast honors community leaders for their contributions to Chicago and continuing Dr. King’s legacy. This year’s theme is “Defending Our Democracy, Protecting Our Rights.”
