Kevin Smith Enlists Fan To Deliver Food To O'Hare
The "Clerks" filmmaker took to Twitter to see if he could pay a fan to deliver him some food at O'Hare during a stopover.

CHICAGO, IL — Filmmaker Kevin Smith had a stopover in Chicago Monday and was craving some grub from Veggie Grill by the Loop, but didn't have enough time to make the trip. So, naturally, he turned to social media, seeing if any fans could take on the mission of picking up some food for Silent Bob.
Smith, the mind behind cult-classics "Clerks," "Mallrats," "Dogma," "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" and many more was on his way to Vancouver Monday morning and considered rushing to the Veggie Grill during his 95-minute layover.
"Flying back to Vancouver from St Louis in the a.m. I have 95 minute layover in Chicago - where there is a @VeggieGrill by The Loop. Do I risk missing my flight and try to make it from @fly2ohare to #VeggieGrill before my next flight or is that nuts? Thoughts from any Chicagoans?" he tweeted.

He was told the trip wouldn't work, probably by some punctual producers or managers. So, he turned to a trusty, and dedicated, fanbase.
In a 7:43 a.m. tweet, Smith was pretty clear about the deal on the table:

CHICAGO! I’m told my @VeggieGrill Run won’t work. The only way to make it happen is to have someone deliver the food to me at @fly2ohare! So - the VG at 204 North Wells opens at 10:30. My flight lands at 11. Any Chicagoans up for this? I’ll pay $200 and a photo (if you want one). https://t.co/mp8hwOhX6d

Another Smith took on the challenge. "Send me your order and i'll put on pants," tweeted Alex Smith. He documented the ride on his Twitter account and grabbed a selfie with the Veggie Grill manager.
When Alex showed up at the airport, wearing a "Mooby's" jacket from "Clerks 2," the director took a quick video celebrating.
"So, this hero, right here... volunteered to do it... not all heroes wear capes," he quipped. "We have a happy ending! As long as I make this flight," Smith said, ending the video.
WE DID IT! @Im_Alex_Smith made the @VeggieGrill Run from The Loop to @fly2ohare in time for me to enjoy a little piece of home right here in Chicago’s airport! Many thanks for being The Bandit, sir! It was an adventurous, delicious layover! pic.twitter.com/JgjjbdQvmz

Smith, as of late, has been on a weight-losing trend, having lost over 50 pounds in the six months before August, the Asbury Park Press reports.
