Lawsuit Filed Against Chicago Police Officer for Beating Mentally Disabled Man
The lawsuit accuses Officer Matthew Jackson of beating Nathaniel Taylor and sticking a gun in his mouth.

CHICAGO, IL — A federal lawsuit accuses a Chicago Police officer of beating and abusing a 19-year-old mentally disabled man in 2015, The Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The lawsuit, filed Friday, claims Officer Matthew Jackson beat Nathaniel Taylor and then put a gun in his mouth. Taylor has a cognitive disability and an IQ of 44, the article states.
On Sept. 9, 2015, Taylor walked through the officer's yard. Jackson allegedly punched Taylor, knocked him down to the ground, beat him, and placed a gun in his mouth.

Taylor was then arrested and charged with felony counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer and resisting arrest, as well as a misdemeanor count of trespassing, the article says. Taylor spent one week in the Cook County jail and then was released on electronic home monitoring.
The felony charges against Taylor were eventually dropped, but he did plead guilty to the trespassing misdemeanor this past April and received three months of court supervision.
