At Least 16 Hurt In CTA Bus Crash On Lake Shore Drive: Authorities

The northbound roadway was closed after the fiery crash, authorities said early Sunday.

CHICAGO — At least 16 people were hurt when a CTA bus and a car were involved in a fiery crash on Lake Shore Drive, authorities said early Sunday.

The incident involved a car fire in the 4400 block of South Lake Shore Drive in Kenwood and resulted in the closure of the northbound roadway, the fire department tweeted around 6:45 a.m.

Emergency personnel triaged 23 victims, three of whom were seriously injured and 13 of whom had injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the department. Seven people refused further treatment at the scene. Those in need of additional care were taken to area hospitals.
