LeBron James Wears Cubs Uni to Honor World Series Bet With Dwyane Wade

CHICAGO, IL — Being a reigning NBA champion and Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year doesn't mean LeBron James still can't be embarrassed by his pals.

Good to his word, the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar strolled into the United Center before Friday's game with the Chicago Bulls sporting a custom-made Cubs uniform, punishment for losing a World Series bet with Bulls guard Dwyane Wade, his friend and former Miami Heat teammate.

"Yeah, I lost this bet, and this is unfortunate what I have to go into the arena in. Pinstripes all the way down to the shoes," James said in a video posted on the Twitter account for Uninterrupted, his multimedia outlet for athletes.

Wade greeted James as he walked into the United Center to get ready for Friday's game, and the Chicago native was quick to immortalize his buddy's public humilation by recording the moment on a smartphone. Uninterrupted plans to post a behind-the-scenes video on its YouTube channel at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The bet started when Wade threw down the gauntlet in late October that his hometown Cubs would beat James' hometown Indians in the World Series.

Chicago went on to defeat Cleveland in a thrilling Game 7, winning the series, 4-3.

And Wade wasn't shy about reminding James online that he had lost the bet.

Wade and James were part of the Heat's "Big Three" — along with Chris Bosh — from 2010 to 2014. The power trio played in four NBA Finals, winning twice. James returned to the Cavs after the 2013-14 season, and Wade joined the Bulls this season.
