Legal Tattoo Age Lowered From 21 to 18 in Chicago

City places greater restrictions on tanning, mouth piercings.

CHICAGO, IL - While the city has raised the legal smoking age from 18 to 21 years old, they have done the reverse when it comes to tattoos.

The Chicago City Council voted this week to lower the legal age to get a tattoo within city limits from 21 to 18, according to an NBC-Chicago report.

The same ordinance changing the legal tattoo age in the city also placed a ban on anyone under 18 using tanning salons and required pre-18 citizens to now receive a parent’s consent before receiving any piercings in the mouth.
