Light Snow May Cause Slippery Travel Friday For Chicago Area

The snow will develop late Friday afternoon, with an inch or two of snow possible.

ILLINOIS — Light snow is possible Friday afternoon and overnight into Saturday to start off the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Light snow will develop late Friday afternoon, which could lead to slippery travel for some, the weather service said. Accumulations of up to an inch or two are expected, mainly for towns south and west of a Rochelle to Wateseka line.

Additional accumulations of up to one inch of snow are also possible near the lake, according to the weather service.

Some lake effect flurries are possible Saturday morning, which will be partly cloudy and have a high of 27 degrees, according to the weather service. Temperatures will be chilly on Saturday night, which has a low of 8 degrees.

Sunday will also be partly cloudy, with a high of 31 degrees. There is also a slight chance of light snow on Sunday night, according to the weather service.
