Local businesses are gearing up for the influx of visitors for the Chicago Marathon offering specials for runners and their families.

Local bars and restaurants plan for this, offering dining specials for runners, their families and friends. Ahead of race day, here's a roundup of spots to seek out for a carbo-load, hefty discount or a sweet treat.
For a carbo-load that's not over-the-top, head to one of these restaurants.
Roanoke Restaurant, located on Madison St. between LaSalle and State, is a perfect home base right off the marathon route. To help runners prep, Executive Chef Gregory Elliott has created a carbo-load pasta menu. Available October 5 through October 7, it features Pappardelle with wild boar bolognese and Casarecce with grilled chicken, roasted local cauliflower, chili, and parsley-walnut pesto.
The night before the marathon, runners can power up with $18 pasta specials at Tuscany on Taylor St. in Little Italy. Created by Executive Chef Victorio Padilla, specials include Rigatoni, Chicken Lasagna and Fettuccine Primavera.
