Loyola University Suspends Frat During Hazing Investigation

University officials are looking into hazing allegations leveled against Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

CHICAGO, IL — Loyola University has suspended Sigma Alpha Epsilon's chapter at the school while the university investigates hazing allegations against the fraternity, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The suspension comes after Loyola officials received "credible infomation" connected to hazing accusations that involve the fraternity, the report stated. Details about the alleged hazing were not given, the report added.

This is the second Chicago-area chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon to be suspended this month. Northwestern University sent out a campus email alert Feb. 6 after officials recevied anonymous reports that allege multiple female students were given a date-rape drug and sexually assaulted during a Jan. 21 event at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house.
