Lyft Teams Up With Chance the Rapper To Help CPS
The ride-share service says people can now round up their fare and donate the difference.

CHICAGO, IL -- Lyft announced Tuesday that people catching a ride will be offered the option to round up their ride fare to the next dollar and support Chance the Rapper's arts and literature fund to help Chicago Public Schools. Passengers can use the "settings" tab on their Lyft app to choose the charity. The New Chance Arts and Literature Fund is the first Chicago organization Lyft is supporting.
Chance the Rapper's non profit SocialWorks raised $2.2 million for CPS in six months.
"The fund will bring arts programs and materials to schools that have experienced a decrease in 5-year graduation rates, addressing their budgets, textbooks, and music programs," the organization's website states. In March, Chance the Rapper donated $1 million of his personal money to CPS.
"As an artist and an after-school teacher, I know the arts are essential," Chance said during the March press conference. "They teach students invaluable lessons. Like practice makes perfect, that small differences have large effects, and that collaboration leads to creativity."
