Man Who Shot Chicago Cop Charged With Attempted Murder: Police

CHICAGO, IL — A Chicago man accused of shooting at two police officers and seriously injuring one is now facing attempted murder charges, authorities announced Saturday.

Jabari Edwards, 28, of Chicago, faces two counts of first-degree attempted murder following the June 1 shooting, according to a Chicago Police Department news release. Authorities say Edwards shot at two police officers during a confrontation in the 1600 block of West 64th Street, hitting and seriously injuring one of the officers.

Edwards was arrested July 13 in Burlington, Iowa, authorities said. He was scheduled to appear in court Saturday.
