Cook County Medical Examiner identifies three Chicagoans who died of coronavirus as Illinois death toll climbs to nine.
CHICAGO, IL — The Cook Medical Examiner’s Office identified three Chicagoans who died of coronavirus. The Illinois death toll from the new virus stands at nine, with 1,049 cases across the state as of Sunday.
Timothy Loving, 59, from Chicago’s Austin neighborhood on the West Side, died March 17 at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park. Loving had underlying conditions including diabetes and chronic substance abuse.

A woman from the city’s North Side Old Town neighborhood died March 19 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Diane Breymeyer, 80, suffered from high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Michael Mika, 73, of Chicago’s Jefferson Park neighborhood, also died March 19 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. According to the medical examiner’s report, Mika suffered from high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
