ILLINOIS — Mild temperatures, and rainy weather is expected through Christmas this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

A high of 57 degrees is expected on Friday, but fog is possible in the morning with rain continuing throughout the day, according to the weather service forecast. The weather service said areas of locally dense fog will continue across the area Friday morning.

Rain is likely late Friday, and more patchy fog is possible before midnight, according to the weather service.

Saturday has a high of 52 degrees, and again, rain is possible, especially Christmas morning, the weather service said.

Temperatures will fall to the 40s by Saturday evening, and Sunday will be cooler with a high of 47 degrees. According to the weather service, Sunday should be partly sunny, and there is a chance of rain, which could mix with snow near the Illinois-Wisconsin state line.
