CHICAGO — The Cook County Medical Examiner has confirmed that a body found Monday afternoon in Lake Michigan is that of missing Chicago teacher Linda Brown.

Linda Brown, 53, was last seen Jan. 3 leaving her Bronzeville home in the 4500 block of South Martin Luther King Drive, who was headed to an acupuncture appointment in Wicker Park. She never showed up to the appointment.

Her body had been recovered from the lake just before 1 p.m. An autopsy is planned for later Tuesday.

Contrary to when police said she was last seen, the woman's husband, Antwon Brown, said that his wife had already left their home by the time he woke up on Jan. 3, taking her purse, credit cards and car keys with her. She had reportedly been on medical leave for mental health issues and was scheduled to return to work next week.

Surveillance video reportedly showed Brown parking her car around 3 a.m. Saturday and walking across the 35th Street pedestrian bridge but not returning.
