Gold Coast Sounds Good Choir

Chicagoland's largest no-audition choral program for adults "55 and better" has nine choirs throughout Chicago and the suburbs, including the Gold Coast. Conducted by Jonathan Miller, the choir rehearses and performs at the beautiful, historic Fourth Presbyterian Church on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, 126 E. Chestnut Ave. Three sessions a year are offered -- two 15-week sessions in the fall and spring, and one 8-week session in the summer). All sessions include: a weekly 90-minute rehearsal with an additional (optional) online Friday rehearsal; guidance and instruction by professional conductors and accompanists; licensed sheet music; accessible rehearsal and performance venues; and free, public performances by each choir. Registered singers are also free to rehearse and perform with as many of the nine choirs as they wish for just one registration fee per session. Scholarships are readily available -- call the Sounds Good office at 630.395.9542 to apply. Sounds Good Choir also offers the only choir in Illinois for adults with early-stage dementia and their care partners. Annual 
Induction Ceremony , coming to Chicago for the first time on Sept. 27 at 6
 p.m. at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park. The Hall of Fame 
Induction Ceremony is the Illinois Rock &amp; Roll Museum on Route 66’s 
largest annual fundraising event and celebrates the artists, industry 
leaders, and cultural contributors who shaped Illinois’ musical legacy. 
The event brings together inductees, performers, families, and fans for 
an evening of live music, award presentations, storytelling, and 
historic recognition.
The
 evening will feature live performances by Kevin Cronin, Jim Peterik of 
the Ides of March and Formerly of Survivor, The Plain White T’s, 1960s 
jazz-rock band The Flock, Hot Mix 5 and a special reunion performance by
 The Boyzz, plus several surprise guests to be announced. WGN Radio host
 and Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame member Bob Sirott will host the 
ceremony. Made possible with the support of Old National Bank, Illinois 
Arts Council, Heritage Corridor, and Insperity.

Calling all 1970s era Illinois music fans&hellip;remember Patch &amp; Didi? 
Tonight on &ldquo;Jam&rsquo; n Java&rdquo;&hellip;the original band members of Patch &amp; Didi will reunite after all these years&hellip;to revel in the glory of the music, the unforgettable decade, and the magic of the memories. 
The adventures of Patch &amp; Didi morphed into the ultimate &ldquo;rock-n-roll story&rdquo;, where a group of really nice, polite, down-to-earth, Midwest kids said, &ldquo;let&rsquo;s form a band&rdquo;, enjoyed local and regional success, and ended up hitting the big time, with national stardom in other bands. 
And the best part is&hellip;all these years later&hellip;even after all the fame and glory&hellip;they are all still really nice, polite, down-to-earth, Midwest kids&hellip;but with an amazing story to tell!

&ldquo;Before Frankie Valli &amp; The Four Seasons&hellip; before Kenny Rogers&hellip; before Sugartime&hellip; before all the miles, stages and adventures that followed&hellip;there was PATCH. In the early 1970s, my brother Rex Robinson, Lynn Hammann and I started making music together in Illinois. Then the remarkable Didi Carr joined us, and Patch &amp; Didi hit the road. We were young musicians with no idea where that road would eventually take us. And what a road it became.&rdquo;, said Robby Robinson. &ldquo;Rex, Lynn, Didi and I are getting back together to remember those days - the music, the nightclubs and showrooms, the people we backed, the crazy stories, the move to California&hellip;and how those early years eventually connected to some pretty amazing chapters in all of our lives. Lynn went on to spend decades with Kenny Rogers and worked with Dolly Parton, not to mention Frankie Valli. Didi starred in the television series Sugartime. Rex and I continued our journey together, and those Patch years ultimately became part of our road to Frankie Valli &amp; The Four Seasons. I&rsquo;ve dug into the archives, too &mdash; old photographs, newspaper clippings and some video surprises that we can&rsquo;t wait to share.&rdquo;
