Murder Charge Made in Robbery That Led to Woman's Death on Lake Shore Drive
18-year-old man from the South Side accused of attempting to rob Pamela Johnson, forcing her to flee into the path of a truck.

CHICAGO, IL - One of the men who attempted to rob Pamela Johnson and chased her onto Lake Shore Drive, where she was hit by a truck and killed, has been charged.
On Friday, Chicago police announced the arrest of Semaj Waters, 18, of the 9100 block of S. Burnside. Waters was one of several suspects who turned themselves in when photos were released to the public depicting their images. Waters has been charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted robbery and one count of mob action.
Johnson was a 32-year-old mother who lived in South Chicago. She and her boyfriend were the target of the armed robbery near the 600 block of N. Lake Shore Drive around 1:30 a.m. on the morning of the Sunday before Memorial Day. The tried to flee across Lake Shore Drive to run for help, but were struck by the truck. The boyfriend, who is 43, was injured in the incident.

The crime was captured by numerous surveillance photographs, which police released to the public in the days after Johnson's death.
Waters was to appear in court to officially face the charges Saturday.
