New Agency Will Investigate Chicago Police Misconduct
The city's Independent Police Review Authority will become the Civilian Office of Police Accountability.
CHICAGO, IL - The Independent Police Review Authority that investigates cases of possible police misconduct will soon be called the Civilian Office on Police Accountability, CBS-Chicago reported Monday.
The name change is the first step in a move to abolish the IPRA.
Currently, any incident in which a police officer shoots a suspect is sent to the IPRA for an investigation.
