Noodles & Company to Close 55 Locations

Noodles & Company has announced plans to close 55 underperforming restaurants.

In a memo to investors, the company said the closings are the result of a strategic review of Noodles & Company's current locations and will likely target restaurants that have opened in the last two to three years, particularly in newer markets where brand awareness of the company is weak.

The company currently operates 510 locations in 35 states, including Illinois.

The closings will affect locations that "have significantly underperformed the company's restaurant averages," according to the memo.

A spokeswoman for Noodles & Company told NBC Chicago that the company will be disclosing more information on the planned closings in the weeks to come.
