Rosalie "Elaine" Czarnowski
Age 86, a resident of Morris, IL, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away on August 6, 2021. She was born June 10, 1935, in Chicago, IL the daughter of Ruth E. (Lindgren) and Robert E. Matthews.

Elaine grew up in Woodstock, IL, and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Woodstock, IL. She also attended Wilbur Wright College in Chicago where she earned an Associate Degree in Graphic Design.
Elaine married Edward Czarnowski on January 6, 1961, and they settled in Chicago to raise their family. She kept herself active and volunteered at many places. At St. Francis Borgia Church she cleaned and sewed the vestments and created custom stoles for the priests. She was active in the Catholic Women’s Club, Canty Elementary School PTA, taught CCD religious education classes, and assisted with the Girl Scouts. She loved to craft and created many types of art.

Beloved wife of 60 years to Edward J. Czarnowski; loving mother of Beth (Bill) Cichon of Wheeling, IL and Mary Ludemann of Morris, IL; dear grandmother of Shawn (Sara Budzow) Cichon of Wheeling, IL; fond aunt, cousin, and friend of many.
Preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Diane Czarnowski; brother, Robert E. Matthews, Jr.; and son-in-law, Michael Ludemann.
Funeral services for Elaine will be Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 1201 W. Rt. 6 (at Deerpath Drive) Morris, where visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 E. Jackson St., Morris. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
