Parent-Led Group for Parents and Caregivers of Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder

AARTS Center at Rush holds group to provide support, share stories, and hear perspectives about caring for children with ASD on June 3

Zoubida Pasha is an expert in helping parents navigate special education services for their children on the autism spectrum, especially those from multicultural backgrounds. She is a parent of a teen girl with autism and other health impairments who receives special education services in Chicago Public Schools. Pasha has experienced the difficulties of maneuvering the education system, and seeks to help other families do so with greater ease.

Pasha is affiliated with multicultural groups and organizations throughout the state of Illinois. Nationally, she works collaboratively with these groups to support or empower families with different cultural backgrounds. Pasha has been a bilingual parent trainer/advocate with Family Resource Center on Disabilities (FRCD) for six years and worked for four years with the Parent Educators Partnership (IL-PEP) project through the State Board of Education and Chicago Public Schools. She provides Special Education Rights and Responsibilities training and workshops at school districts, Head Start Programs, social services agencies, and other organizations in different communities as well as in the office at FRCD.

In this parent-led group, Pasha will be featured in discussion to provide a space to share stores, hear other perspectives, and provide mutual support. The group is open to all parents and caregivers of individuals with ASD. It will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the AARTS Center at Rush located at 1645 W. Jackson Blvd., Suite 603, Chicago, IL 60612. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.
