Patchy Fog, Rain, Unseasonably Warm Temps: Week Ahead Weather

A look at the weather forecast for this week for the Chicago area.

Those having to work on Columbus Day should expect some patchy fog early Monday morning. Unseasonably warm temps will also continue on Monday with highs between 73 and 80 degrees. Warm and dry conditions will continue into the first half of the day on Tuesday but there is a chance for showers during the latter part of the day, according to the National Weather Service.

The best chances for rain will be in the mid- to late-evening hours on Tuesday and overnight. There is also a chance for showers on Wednesday morning. High temps between 64 and 74 degrees are expected on Tuesday while highs between 63 and 68 degrees are in the forecast on Wednesday.

Dry weather is expected to return to close out the week. Highs between 67 and 71 degrees are in the forecast on Thursday, according to the news release.

After an unusually hot and dry September, the Chicago area in recent days got some much-needed rainfall. The National Weather Service released the following preliminary rainfall totals from Oct. 3 through Oct. 7. Here is a look at how much rain fell in the area:
