Person Lying On I-94 Run Over By Hit-And-Run Driver: Police

Motorists saw a male lying in the road, called 911 and tried to block a lane of traffic, but the victim was struck nonetheless, police said.

CHICAGO — An SUV ran over a pedestrian who was lying on Interstate 94 early Tuesday morning in Chicago, according to state police.

The incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes near westbound Interstate 290, police said.

Passing motorists saw a male lying in the road, called 911 and tried to block a lane of traffic to stop the person from getting hit, but the SUV drove around, struck the pedestrian and fled, according to police.

The victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.
