POW! Gym Chicago Acquires Sparta Science Sports Plates for December
Most Advanced Technology used by the NFL, NBA, MLS and NCAA that Provides Injury Risk
Due to the holidays, most of us choose to indulge in finer foods and beverages during the months of November and December and push off healthier goals and resolutions to the new year. But it’s quite the opposite for young Chicagoland athletes who may be getting ready for winter break but are focused more than ever on getting faster, stronger and healthier in order to compete at a higher level in the upcoming Spring/Fall 2023 sports.
POW! Gym Chicago has once again acquired the highly touted Sparta Science Force Plates and will be the only Chicagoland location to offer scans for the entire month of December to athletes wanting to gather data and identify deficits in order to tailor certain aspects of their training program. The Sparta Science Force Plates are an objective FDA registered diagnostic tool that gives a person their individual movement signature. The scan optimizes the physical health and performance for athletes and fitness clients revealing an individual's deficits by using the evidence-based movement scans and proprietary software. Once the scan is finished, a report is provided with individual data-driven exercise prescriptions so that each person can enhance their athletic resilience, minimize injury risk and become more strategic about their training.
“Each year we are lucky to get the Sparta Science Force Plates for a short period of time so that youth athletes can assess where they are physically and take the necessary steps to becoming stronger and faster with less injury,” explains Katalin Ogren, owner of POW! Gym Chicago. “We are thrilled to have the plates the entire month of December since this is the key time for athletes to start prepping for spring sports.”

The Sparta Scan Force Plate is a highly advanced technology that helps athletes and coaches train smarter, not harder. Now mandated by the NFL, NBA, MLS and used by 11 NCAA basketball teams. Sparta plates measure the forces exerted on the ground by the human body which can quickly determine an individual’s movement qualities.
The actual scan is being offered by appointment only and consists of 5 jump squats, a minute plank hold and single leg balances. The jump squat is considered to be the most accurate movement in sports performance to assess all phases of speed and jump. The data is then transformed into a set of metrics that produces an injury risk and performance score. It is from these scores that exercise prescriptions are given which empower athletes and their trainers to make fast and accurate decisions.

While POW! is also the official home of the PARISI Speed School, interested athletes can pair their scan with a PARISI evaluation which includes a running analysis, and mobility assessment featuring 7 athletic tests -vertical jump, 5 hop & broad jump, 10-yard dash, 20-yard dash, 5/10/5, chin up, and 200-yard shuttle run. Between the scans and the evaluation, an athlete can get an in-depth picture of his/her needs so that a beneficial training program can be created.
POW! Gym / PARISI Speed School is located at 310 S Racine with free parking available off Jackson Blvd. behind the Extra Storage building. The cost for the Sparta Science Force Plate scan is $15 and takes approximately 20 minutes. The PARISI evaluation (highly recommended) is $50 and takes approximately 50 minutes. Appointments can be made by emailing katalin@powkickboxing.com or calling the POW! front desk at 312.829.7699. www.POWGymChicago.com
