CHICAGO, IL — As tensions continue to rise amid the new coronavirus health crisis, President Donald Trump and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker traded barbs over social media on Sunday. In a tweet on Sunday, Trump criticized Pritzker and the "Fake News at CNN.
The tweet came hours after Pritzker appeared on CNN, calling out Trump for failing to adequately allocate personal protective equipment, like doctor's masks and gloves, to states. During the interview, Pritzker told CNN's Jake Tapper that states, including Illinois, are being forced to compete with other states and countries for supplies in what he believes should've been a coordinated effort by the federal government.
"It's a wild, wild west out there," Pritzker said during the CNN interview.

He also headed to Twitter to respond to the president's tweet, accusing Trump of "wasting precious months" instead of taking action to protect people. "You should be leading a national response instead of throwing tantrums from the back seat. Where were the tests when we needed them ? Where's the PPE? Get off Twitter & do your job," Pritzker tweeted.
You wasted precious months when you could've taken action to protect Americans & Illinoisans. You should be leading a national response instead of throwing tantrums from the back seat. Where were the tests when we needed them? Where's the PPE? Get off Twitter & do your job. https://t.co/WESJITCAwg
