Proskauer Chooses Covenant House IL for Holiday Activity

Homeless Youth from Covenant House "Pay It Forward" by Decorating Potted Plants for Sunrise Senior Center

This afternoon, members of Proskauer law firm participated in a collaborative activity with homeless youth from Covenant House Illinois (CHIL). In celebration of the Christmas season, CHIL residents learned how to ‘pay it forward’ by decorating potted planters alongside the Proskauer team to be donated to Sunrise local senior center.

We are extremely grateful for the engagement of Proskauer Rose in service to our young people,” explains Cheryl Hamilton-Hill, CEO of Covenant House Illinois. “Holidays can be especially challenging for those who are homeless, so to have a group of people from a global law firm come in to lead a creative project and provide our youth with a special meal, is terrific. It not only showed the youth that people really do care - but they were also exposed to another career in a very positive way."

Proskauer chose Covenant House Illinois for this specific project because of the supportive services they provide to at-risk youth to help transform their lives. CHIL is aligned with Proskauer’s mission of helping those less fortunate or who have fallen on hard times.

“We at Proskauer like to take the time to develop relationships with nonprofits in the Chicago area,” explains Hanna Eimiller, office coordinator at Proskauer. “We found a great partner in Covenant House, and are thrilled we were able to spend an afternoon with its youth. Everyone there was incredibly kind and appreciative. We enjoyed painting succulent pots with them, which were delivered to seniors at Sunrise Senior Living. We hope to keep growing our relationship with CHIL and work with them more in the future.”

The activity’s goal is to help CHIL’s residents experience the rewarding feeling of ‘giving to others’ while engaging in some holiday fun.
