CHICAGO — Veteran morning show host Eric Ferguson is out at The Mix.

Facing sexual abuse allegations from female former employees, the "Eric in the Morning" star announced Friday that he will not return to WTMX-FM. Ferguson was removed from his namesake show earlier this month, but was expected to return to the airwaves in November.

"I feel that returning to the air at this time, in this environment, will be an unfair distraction to my colleagues, and the rest of the morning show members who work so hard," Ferguson said in a statement first reported by media writer Robert Feder.

“As a result, and after discussions with Hubbard leadership, we’ve decided it is best that I step away from the show. I’m energized to move forward and defend myself against claims made against me and the station, and look forward to seeing them through to their conclusion."

Four women, including his former co-host Melissa McGurren, have accused Ferguson of misconduct. McGurren filed a $10 million lawsuit alleging management protected Ferguson.
