Rain, Above-Normal Temps This Weekend

A look at the weather forecast for the coming days for the Chicago area.

Unseasonably warm temperatures are in the forecast for Friday with highs nearing 80 for portions of the Chicago area. Saturday will also be warm, with highs between 74 and 78 degrees, before a cold front moves across the area on Sunday.

While sunshine is expected for most of the day Friday, increasing clouds and gusty winds reaching 30 mph are in the forecast Saturday. Periods of rain are expected late Saturday night through Sunday afternoon.

A stronger cold front will arrive on Monday and bring much cooler air to the region for the middle of next week along with a chance of rain showers.

  • SATURDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 76. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • SATURDAY NIGHT: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. South wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
  • SUNDAY: Showers. High near 67. South wind around 10 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
  • SUNDAY NIGHT: A 30 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 49.
  • MONDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65.
