Rain and Temps Near 60: Week Ahead Weather

It’s going to be a rainy start to the week.

Heavy rain is expected to start Sunday night and taper to a drizzle Monday morning, but another round of “soaking rains” are expected late Monday afternoon and Monday night for the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunny skies and gusty winds are in the forecast for Tuesday. Spring-like temperatures nearing 60 degrees are possible during the day.

Temps will turn cooler on Wednesday and will get progressively colder as the week goes on.

• Sunday Night: Cloudy. Chance of light showers in the evening...then showers after midnight. Blustery. Temperatures nearly steady in the lower 40s. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.
• Monday: Windy. Showers likely in the morning...then showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 50s. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Near the lake...south winds 20 to 30 mph... Chance of precipitation 80 percent.
• Monday Night: Cloudy. Showers in the evening...then a chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the mid 40s. South winds 10 to 20 mph in the evening becoming southwest after midnight. Gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of precipitation 90 percent.
• Tuesday: Mostly sunny in the morning then becoming partly cloudy. Unseasonably mild. Highs in the upper 50s. South winds 10 to 20 mph.
• Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy. A 20 percent chance of light showers in the evening. Lows in the upper 30s. South winds 10 to 15 mph.
• Wednesday: Partly sunny. Highs in the mid 40s.
• Wednesday Night: Cloudy. Lows in the mid 30s.
• Thursday: Cloudy. Highs around 40.
• Thursday Night Through Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy. Lows around 30. Highs in the upper 30s.
