Rain, Thunderstorms Possible Throughout Weekend For Illinois

The main rain chances will be Saturday night into Sunday, the weather service said.

ILLINOIS — Warm temperatures are expected through the weekend, as some spotty storms and chances of rain are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service said a weather system will move slowly through the area this weekend, bringing rain and storms. The main rain chances will be Saturday night into Sunday.

Spotty thunderstorms are also possible across the area, the weather service said.

Saturday will have a high of 81 degrees, and Sunday a high of 76, according to the weather service. Rain amounts above a half-inch are possible for some areas south of Interstate 80, the weather service said.

Temperatures will become more seasonable into the work week, as a high of 72 is expected on Monday and a high of 70 on Tuesday, according to the weather service.

As October begins, the weather service said September was much warmer and drier than average. Chicago was 3.9 degrees above normal, and September tied for the fifth-warmest September since 1871, according to the weather service. Precipitation was 1.96 inches below normal for Chicago.
