Reaching Across Illinois Library System Elects President
Thomas Stagg will serve a one-year term as head of the Reaching Across Illinois Library System Board of Trustees.

Thomas Stagg was elected President of the Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) Board of Directors on July 30, 2021. He will serve a one-year term ending on June 30, 2022. He has been a member of the RAILS Board since July 2018, and also serves as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of Alpha Park Public Library District in Bartonville, Illinois.
Stagg has over 40 years’ experience in transportation and logistics management, most recently serving as Director of Logistics at Federal Companies in East Peoria. He has also served as Senior Account Executive at Roadrunner Intermodal Services, LLC, and Pricing Manager Logistics Services at G&D Integrated, Inc., and is certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution by the Association for Supply Chain Management.
“Tom’s experience in logistics and transportation has been invaluable to RAILS thus far, and he is a tremendous asset to our board,” said Deirdre Brennan, RAILS Executive Director. “RAILS delivers over nine million books and other items between libraries of all types (academic, public, school, and specialized) each year to help support the needs of children, students, business people, researchers, and other Illinois residents. RAILS wants to ensure that we keep our delivery service running smoothly and efficiently and that we take advantage of the latest technologies whenever possible. Tom has helped us to achieve this goal, and I look forward to continuing to work with him as RAILS Board President.”
RAILS is governed by a 15-member board, elected by system member libraries. RAILS Board members must be a trustee of a member library or part of the library staff from a member library. See complete list of board members.
