Rideshare Driver Killed In Drive-By Shooting: Police
The passenger was known to police.

CHICAGO, IL — A rideshare driver was killed Monday in a shooting that also injured his passenger, according to police.
The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Roosevelt Road in Little Italy, police said.
The 31-year-old driver was stopped at a red light when four males pulled up in a silver SUV and fired into the vehicle, according to police. The driver suffered gunshot wounds to the torso and was pronounced deceased at Stroger Hospital, police said.

The 34-year-old passenger, who was known to police, was also taken to Stroger and was listed in fair condition after suffering gunshot wounds to his legs.
WLS identified the driver as Milton Pillacela Ayora, a Chicago resident who moved to the U.S. from Ecuador as a teen and worked at a restaurant as well as driving rideshares. Ayora was talking to his brother on the phone at the time of the shooting, according to WLS, which reported Ayora’s brother heard the entire encounter.

No one was immediately in custody and detectives were investigating.
