Rocket Club Academy helps kids become ‘childpreneurs’

Lincoln Park, Chicago chapter accepting new students

NFTs, Blockchain and Robotics! Oh my!

These are just a few of the areas kids get to explore on their journey to becoming ‘childpreneurs’ as Rocket Club Academy members.
“The world is changing, and we are helping the next generation prepare for these changes,” said Aicha Sharif, Dean of Rocket Club. “Kids are so imaginative and creative and at Rocket Club Academy they get to learn and be creative at the same time.”
Rocket Club Academy operates as an after-school program for children 7-14 years-old. The focus of the program is cultivating “childpreneurs” and teaching children at an early age about topics that are not taught in school such as Blockchain, NFTs (non-fungible-tokens), Artificial Intelligence, Climate Science, and the Stock Market. The Academy has members in 29 states, England, and Ireland.
Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder of Apple, said Rocket Club Academy “would have been the place for me when I was young.”
The curriculum focuses on problem solving, strength-based learning, artistic expression, and EQ which has been developed in collaboration with the leaders of some of the world’s most influential companies.
“Our curriculum is based on what the leaders of the top technology companies are telling us the world will look like in the near future,” Sharif said. “It is truly a cutting-edge program.”
The importance of understanding new technology is not lost on the students at Rocket Club Academy.
"I love learning about new things like the digital world that is so much of how the future is going to be,” said Anthony, 12, a student at Skinner North Classical School.
But it is more than just about academics. The students enjoy the fun aspects of the program as well.
"I like Rocket Club Academy because it has the word 'Rocket' in it,” said Ebele, 8, a student at University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. “I love to build things and I love working with robotics."
Cyrine, 7, a student at Ogden International School of Chicago noted “the classes are not too long, and they are not too short. They are just right."
The Rocket Club Academy has just launched a new chapter in Lincoln Park, Chicago and is looking to fill open slots for the new chapter.
“I started out as a teenage entrepreneur and I had to figure out a lot of things for myself,” said Rocket Club Academy founder Alex Hodara. “I started Rocket Club Academy to help future entrepreneurs develop the skills and the knowledge they need to be successful. I love the creativity and the passion these kids have. This program is so much more than learning the basics of coding or how to build a robot or how to sell digital art on the Internet. Yes, we help our students learn the technology shaping our world but as importantly we also help them see themselves and the world around them differently.”
Hodara said the vision for the program is to be a resource for students beyond just the time the students are participating in classes.
“We offer our students a lifetime of support as they transition from ‘childpreneurs’ to the leaders of tomorrow,” Hodara said. “We are building a community.”
