600 people climbed the suburbs tallest building for the American Lung Association in Greater Chicago's Fight For Air Climb at Oakbrook.

Saturday, approximately 600 people climbed the suburbs tallest building for the American Lung Association in Greater Chicago’s Fight For Air Climb at Oakbrook Terrace Tower. The event raised almost $150,000 to fund lung cancer research and critical local programs to help people who suffer from lung disease.
“This year in Illinois, there will be more than 9,000 people diagnosed with lung cancer and more than 6,000 will die from the disease. Today, our community came together to fight lung disease and help raise money to fund critical lung cancer research,” said Kristen Young, the executive director for the Lung Association. “Thank you to all of our participants, sponsors and volunteers who came together to make a difference in the lives of people facing lung disease.”
The event is one of the longest running stair climbs in the U.S., marking its 28th year in 2019. For the event, local residents, first responders, corporate teams and people from across the country race up the stairs of Oakbrook Terrace Tower (31 floors, 680 steps) for bragging rights all while also raising awareness and money to fight lung disease.
