Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Chicago Area

Severe thunderstorms could impact much of northern Illinois this afternoon and evening.

CHICAGO, IL — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for most of the northern half of Illinois until 8 p.m. Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service, the watch includes Boone, Bureau, Carroll, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Ford, Fulton, Grundy, Hancock, Henderson, Henry, Iroquois, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Knox, Lake, La Salle, Lee, Livingston, Marshall, Mason, McDonough, McHenry, McLean, Mercer, Ogle, Peoria, Putnam, Rock Island, Schuyler, Stark, Stephenson, Tazewell, Warren, Whiteside, Will, Winnebago and Woodford counties.

The National Weather Service said storms are most likely from early afternoon through early evening. The potential threats include damaging winds and large hail.
