Temperatures will also gradually warm as the week continues, and by the end of the week, highs will be near 90 degrees.

Monday will be in the 70s, and the highest chance of storms are south of Interstate 80, according to the weather service. Scattered storms could produce locally heavy rain and some gusty winds.

Tuesday has a high of 81, and a chance of storms mostly east of Interstate 55. The weather service said better storm chances may approach the area mid-week.

Wednesday has a high of 87, with the best chances of storms mainly in northwest Illinois, and Thursday has a chance of storms once again and a high of 88 degrees, according to the weather service.
