A look at this week's forecast for the Chicago area.

After a gorgeous Easter weekend, the work week will start out dry and mild for the Chicago area but showers and thunderstorms are possible by mid-week.

On Monday, Chicago-area residents should expect partly sunny skies and high temps between 68 and 73 degrees inland and highs between 61 and 66 along the Lake Michigan, according to the National Weather Service. On Tuesday, high temps will be between 63 and 74 degrees during the day before a more active weather pattern returns on Tuesday evening.

That active weather pattern will bring the a periodic potential for rain showers through Saturday. Thunderstorms are also possible at times Tuesday evening and through mid-day Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
