Snow To Impact Evening Commute, Weather Advisories Issued For IL

Snow will start in the Chicago metro area between 2 and 5 p.m., with totals of 2 to 5 inches expected.

ILLINOIS — Two to five inches of snow is expected Thursday into Friday as winter weather advisories have been issued for most of the Chicago area. The National Weather Service has issued the advisory for McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, La Salle, Kendall, Grundy, Cook and Will counties starting at noon Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday.

Snow-covered and slippery roads are expected, the weather service said. The highest snow totals will be near the lake in northeast Illinois.

Most areas will see a gradual accumulation of less than a half inch of snow per hour, according to the weather service.

Snow could also mix with or change to freezing drizzle south of Interstate 80 on Thursday evening, the weather service said.
