Chicago Weather: Snow Tonight Before Weekend Warmup

Up to an inch of snow is possible Friday night for portions of the Chicago area.

CHICAGO, IL — The Chicago area will get a taste of winter Friday night as snow is expected, but the rest of the weekend should see above-normal temperatures.

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for counties across the Chicago area as a band of snow is expected to move across the area Friday night, according to the National Weather Service. Snowfall amounts up to one inch are possible, but most of the area will see less than that. Temperatures will reach a high in the lower 30s throughout the day on Friday.

On Saturday, warm temps will rebound back into the 40s and 50s, which will quickly melt any snow that may be on the ground, weather officials said. Even warmer temps are expected on Sunday, when high temps between 51 and 58 degrees are in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service. There is a chance for rain on Sunday night.
