Steve Carrell Surprised With His 'Dream' Chicago Smorgasbord
Instead of doing the standard interview, WGN surprised the star with a table full of Portillo's, Lou Malnati's and Garrett Popcorn.

CHICAGO — We hope Steve Carell included a loose pair of pants while packing for his latest trip to Chicago, because he was presented with his "dream" table filled with some of the city's signature dishes while here. WGN host Dean Richards was set to do a regular interview with Carell ahead of the star's newest movie release; however, the host surprised him with a smorgasbord instead.
The table included a massive bucket of Garrett Popcorn, hot dogs and chocolate cake from Portillo's, Eli's Cheesecake and deep dish pizza from Lou Malnati's.
"Are you kidding me?!" Carell laughed. "Pull up a chair. Let's do this... I'm starting without you."

Carell thanked Richards and said, "I'm so happy."
The star was promoting his film, "Welcome To Marwen," which opens Friday; however he was definitely distracted half-way through his slice of deep dish.

"I've had dreams... this is kind of it," Carell said. "This is kind of my dream table in front of me."
In the 90s, Carell performed with The Second City in Chicago, where his love of local food was established. He said he even has frozen pizza from Lou Malnati's, Gino's and Giordano's delivered to his home in Los Angeles.
When told that whatever he doesn't eat would go to the crew, he jokingly yelled, "NO! GET AWAY!"
Carell's film "Welcome To Marwen," directed by Robert Zemeckis, opens in theaters Dec. 21.
