Students Win Ford Scholarships for Entrepreneurship

Several took part in Future Founders' "Be Your Own Boss" program this summer.

CHICAGO, IL - Seventeen students, most of them representing Chicago Public Schools, have won $15,000 in college scholarships from the Ford Motor Company Fund as part of a “Be Your Own Boss” summer program by the non-profit Future Founders that encourages entrepreneurship.

The students spent much of July at 1871 in Chicago learning about what it takes to run their own startup business and become their own bosses. The designed their own mobile applications, built business plans, developed marketing strategies and pitched their concepts to potential “investors” from Chicago’s business community, according to a news release.
