Sunny, Dry Weather Expected For The Weekend In IL

Cooler and less humid weather moves into the area after several days with severe weather and hot temperatures.

ILLINOIS — Cooler and less humid weather is expected this weekend after several days of hot temperatures and severe weather for the Chicago area.

The weekend looks to be sunny and dry, according to the weather service. Saturday has a high of 83 degrees, and Sunday a high of 84.

The start of the work week looks similar, as temps in the 80s and mostly sunny weather continues, according to the weather service. There is also a slight chance of showers and storms on Tuesday afternoon.

The weather service said it issued 45 severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. With 36 tornado warnings, the weather service said 2021 is ranked fourth for the most tornado warnings in a calendar year since 1986.

It is tied with 2015, which also had 36 tornado warnings; 2008 had 37 warnings; 2003 had 42; and 2004 has the most warnings with 59, according to the weather service.
