Suspended Chicago Priest Arrested on Child Porn Charges: Cops
Once prominent pastor was arrested in Maryland after year-long investigation, police said.

CHICAGO -- A Chicago priest who was removed from ministry last year was arrested in Maryland after an investigation determined his computer contained images of child pornography, Chicago police said in a news release.
Octavio Munoz Capetillo, 40, was charged with one felony count of child pornography/photograph. He is scheduled for a bond hearing at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building at 26th and California later Wedenesday afternoon.
Police said an investigation determined that on July 1, 2015 the priest had images of child pornography on his computer. Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich suspended Munoz Capetillo later that same month.

The once prominent pastor was the associate director of Casa Jesus from 2008-2009 and as director from 2009-2015, a program of the Archdiocese that helped prepare Latin American men considering vocations in the priesthood for seminary. He had been transferred to St. Pancratius, 4025 S. Sacramento Ave, in Brighton Park, before the discovery of the sexual material and images on his computer.

The Archdiocese of Chicago contended last year that church authorities immediately reported their concerns to the Cook County State’s Attorney.
Munoz Capetillo was arrested in Rockville, MD on Tuesday. He was extradited to Chicago.
