Teen Charged In Near North Red Line Attacks

Police said a teen has been taken into custody after he was identified in CTA surveillance videos.

CHICAGO — A 15-year-old boy has been charged with mob action and aggravated battery after three people were attacked at a CTA Red Line platform on the Near North Side on Saturday. The teen was taken into custody after he was identified on CTA surveillance videos as one of the suspects in the attacks, police said.

Police said the 15-year-old kicked and punched two of the victims multiple times, alongside eight to ten other offenders who also attacked the victims.

"One of the two victims sustained great bodily harm, suffering bone fractures, abrasions and lacerations," police said in a media release.
