Unseasonable Cold Hits Illinois, Nightly Freeze Risk Possible

Temps will be in the 40s, but it will be dry and sunny.

ILLINOIS — A cold front will bring in unseasonably cold temperatures for the start of November, according to the National Weather Service. The weather service said there is also a significant freeze risk Sunday night for sub-freezing temperatures for areas north of Interstate 80, and near freezing temps for most of the remainder of northern Illinois.

Each night this week will also feature periods of subfreezing temps, the weather service said.


The week also looks to be completely dry and sunny, according to the weather service. Monday has a high of 48, Tuesday a high of 47, Wednesday a high of 45, Thursday has a high of 46 and Friday a high of 48.

According to the weather service, the last time the Chicago area had five consecutive days of below average temperatures was in mid-July.
