ILLINOIS — A warm, mostly dry late summer weekend is expected for the Chicago area. Storms and showers are possible Friday and Friday night, but Saturday and Sunday should remain dry and sunny, according to the National Weather Service.
Showers are possible north of Interstate 80 after 4 p.m. Friday and into Friday night, but many areas will stay dry, according to the weather service. Storms are also possible, and most likely between 4 and 10 p.m.; severe weather is not expected.
Saturday will have a high of 84, but gusty winds will cause dangerous swimming conditions on Lake Michigan beaches, the weather service said.

Sunday will be even warmer, with a high of 88 degrees. Temperatures will stay warm into the work week, and Monday has a high of 87 degrees, according to the weather service. Showers and storms are also possible to start the week on Monday.
