Storm Chances, Hot & Humid Weekend In Illinois
There will still be extended dry periods this weekend, despite the chances for storms, before the heat index hits 100 next week.
ILLINOIS — There are thunderstorm chances throughout the weekend, as widespread storm development is expected early Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Temps for the weekend will be warm, with highs up to 92 degrees on Sunday, but storms are possible both days.
According to the weather service, storms will spread into northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana Friday afternoon. Widespread severe weather is not expected, but a few of the strongest storms may produce winds up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail.
Storms will move out of the area by Friday evening, with a few isolated storms possible overnight, the weather service said.

Both Saturday and Sunday have a limited severe thunderstorm risk, according to the weather service. There will still be extended dry periods this weekend, despite the chances for storms. There is also a potential for more organized storms late Sunday into Sunday night, the weather service said.
Temperatures will also start to get warmer this weekend, with a high of 86 on Saturday and a high of 92 on Sunday. The weather service said the heat and humidity will increase this weekend into next week, when heat indices over 100 degrees are possible on Tuesday.
