Thursday Snowfall Totals, Dry Weekend Expected For Chicago Area
Highs near 50 degrees are possible again on Sunday.
ILLINOIS — After Thursday's snowfall, the weekend ahead looks dry and sunny, according to the National Weather Service.
The highest snowfall rates hit well south of the Chicago area, with Gibson City picking up 8 inches of snow. Snowfall across the Chicago metro varied between 2 and 5 inches for most of the area, the weather service said.

- Crystal Lake, .5 inches
Blowing and drifting snow is possible on Friday, and winds will increase to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph, on Friday afternoon, according to the weather service.
There is a chance of snow showers Friday night, as wind chill values as low as minus 6 are expected, the weather service said.

Saturday and Sunday will both be sunny and dry, with temperatures warming again on Sunday, the weather service said. The high for Saturday is 23 degrees, while the high for Sunday will be 48 degrees.
On Monday, which is Presidents Day, wintry weather is expected late Monday into Tuesday, the weather service said. Temperatures near 50 degrees are possible, with a wintry mix and freezing rain possible on Monday night.
